Experimental Investigation on Mechanical and Biodegradation Properties of Indian Almond-Kenaf Fiber-Reinforced Hybrid Composites for Construction Applications

Two types of hybrid composites, K/I/K and I/K/I, were prepared and tested for their mechanical properties and durability. The results showed that the K/I/K composite, with high-strength kenaf fibers as the outer layer, exhibited the highest tensile and flexural strength, while the I/K/I composite, with Indian almond fibers as the outer layer, showed the highest impact strength and moisture absorption rate.

Summary: This study developed and characterized the performance of sisal and bamboo reinforced polyester hybrid composite with different fiber orientations, finding that the 0-degree fiber orientation exhibited higher tensile and compressive strength. The results suggest that this composite material has the potential to be used for automotive interior part applications.
