Experimental in-vitro investigation on Epi-Off-Crosslinking on porcine corneas

Federica Boschetti et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the quantitative effects of Epi-Off-CXL irradiance dose on the stromal stiffening of pig corneas. The results showed that a larger irradiation dose led to a significant increase in corneal stiffness, which was proportional to the exposure time. While the effectiveness of accelerated CXL treatments observed in pig corneas aligned well with clinical results, it is challenging to quantitatively distinguish the level of reinforcement induced by different protocols due to biological variability.

Long term results of accelerated corneal collagen cross-linking in pediatric keratoconus

Yasin Cinar et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the long-term visual, refractive, and corneal tomographic outcomes of epithelium-off ACXL in pediatric KC patients. The results indicated that ACXL effectively halts KC progression with long-term clinical benefits for pediatric patients.

Accelerated versus Standard Corneal Cross-linking for Progressive Keratoconus in Syria

Abdelrahman M. Salman et al.

Summary: A comparison study between accelerated and standard corneal cross-linking for the treatment of progressive keratoconus showed that accelerated protocol demonstrated better visual improvement and less pachymetric reduction, while the standard protocol resulted in significantly higher anterior corneal flattening, posterior corneal steepening, and change in posterior astigmatism. Both protocols showed improvement in corneal higher-order aberrations.
