Importance of electromagnetic interactions between ICD and VAD devices-Mechanistic assessment

Bruno Schnegg et al.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated the interaction between a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) and an implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), demonstrating that the LVAD can interfere with the communication between the ICD and its programmer. Increasing the distance between the LVAD and the ICD was found to mitigate this interference.

Effect of sacubitril/valsartan on investigator-reported ventricular arrhythmias in PARADIGM-HF

James P. Curtain et al.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the effect of sacubitril/valsartan compared to enalapril on the incidence of ventricular arrhythmias. The findings showed that sacubitril/valsartan reduced the risk of investigator-reported ventricular arrhythmias and had a greater effect in patients with a non-ischemic etiology.

10-Year All-Cause Mortality Following Percutaneous or Surgical Revascularization in Patients With Calcification

Hideyuki Kawashima et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the 10-year all-cause mortality in patients with heavily calcified lesions (HCLs) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The study found that the presence of HCLs was an independent predictor of 10-year mortality, and the prognosis following PCI or CABG was similar.

Interaction Between Arousals and Ventilation During Cheyne-Stokes Respiration in Heart Failure Patients: Insights From Breath-by-Breath Analysis

Gian Domenico Pinna et al.

Summary: Arousal from sleep during CSR-CSA in heart failure patients is associated with a rapidly decreasing ventilatory overshoot at the beginning of hyperpnea, followed by a slight ventilatory undershoot around its peak. On average, arousals are also associated with a modest increase in post-hyperpnea apnea length; however, large increases in apnea length (>20%) occur in about a quarter of the patients.

The Optimal Machine Learning-Based Missing Data Imputation for the Cox Proportional Hazard Model

Chao-Yu Guo et al.

Summary: This study proposes four machine learning-based imputation strategies for survival data with different missing mechanisms, finding that non-parametric missForest is the only robust method under all missing mechanisms.
