Latent Class Analysis of Lifestyle Risk Factors and Association with Overweight and/or Obesity in Children and Adolescents: Systematic Review

Rafaela Liberali et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the association between latent class analysis of modifiable lifestyle risk factors and overweight/obesity in children and adolescents. The results suggest that low consumption of fruits and vegetables, high intake of fatty and sugary foods, sedentary behavior, and inadequate physical activity are positively associated with being overweight or obese. Overall, the findings support the identification of novel targets for the treatment of obesity and its related comorbidities through clustering modifiable lifestyle risk factors.

Hui Fan et al.

Summary: This study reported the prevalence and trends of co-existence of obesogenic behaviors in adolescents from 15 countries. The results showed significant variations in trends across different countries, but high prevalence remained in most countries. The findings suggest the need for behavioral interventions to mitigate obesogenic behaviors in adolescents for overweight and obesity prevention.
