Elbow plank exercise improves immunocyte function and physical fitness in an elderly male: a case study

Ki-Soo Lee et al.

Summary: This study suggests that performing elbow plank exercises can improve physical fitness and immunocyte function in elderly male individuals. The exercises lead to increased health-related physical fitness factors, such as body weight, skeletal muscle mass, and basal metabolic rate. It also decreases body fat mass and fat percentage. Additionally, certain variables of complete blood count show positive changes, particularly in NK cells and cytotoxicity.

Effects of High Intensity Plank Exercise on Physical Fitness and Immunocyte Function in a Middle-Aged Man: A Case Report

Summary: The study showed that after 4 weeks of elbow plank exercise, physical fitness factors such as muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and cardiopulmonary fitness were improved. Additionally, body weight, skeletal muscle mass, and basal metabolic rate increased, while body fat mass and fat percentage decreased. Although some variables of immune function improved, not all immunocyte functions showed positive changes.
