'Rally round the flag': the COVID-19 crisis and trust in the national government

Summary: In Austria, a strong rally effect was shown during the COVID-19 crisis, where trust was closely tied to perceived health risks but quickly faded over time. Perceptions of government measures also played a role in trust, while perceived economic threat had a minor impact. In contrast, there was a strong partisan divide in France, leading to no rally effect.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stress and emotional reactions in Israel: a mixed-methods study

Hope and Resilience During a Pandemic Among Three Cultural Groups in Israel: The Second Wave of Covid-19

Summary: The study aimed to explore the coping resources of hope and sense of coherence as resilience factors to reduce emotional distress in adults from three cultural groups in Israel during the chronic-stress situation of a pandemic. Differences were found between the cultural groups in terms of emotional distress and levels of hope, with Ultra-Orthodox Jews showing higher levels of resilience factors. Sense of coherence and intrapersonal hope played significant roles in explaining emotional distress among the participants.
