Stress hyperglycaemia is associated with poor functional outcomes in patients with acute ischaemic stroke after intravenous thrombolysis

J. N. Ngiam et al.

Summary: Transient hyperglycaemia in the context of illness, known as stress hyperglycaemia, can lead to poor functional outcomes in acute ischaemic stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy. High stress hyperglycaemia ratio (SHR) was found to be independently associated with poor functional outcomes in AIS patients undergoing intravenous thrombolysis (IVT).

Stress hyperglycemia is predictive of worse outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke undergoing intravenous thrombolysis

Giovanni Merlino et al.

Summary: This study revealed that stress hyperglycemia, as measured by the GAR index, is associated with worse outcomes in AIS patients undergoing IVT. The higher the GAR index, the greater the risk of poor outcomes, mortality, and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage among these patients.

Summary: NLR, PLR, and LMR were shown to be associated with post-thrombolysis early neurological outcomes, with NLR and PLR potentially predicting early neurological deterioration, and NLR related to early neurological improvement.

The Stress Hyperglycemia Ratio is Associated with Hemorrhagic Transformation in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke

Summary: The stress hyperglycemia ratio is significantly associated with an increased risk of hemorrhagic transformation in patients with acute ischemic stroke, suggesting that stress hyperglycemia may be an underlying risk factor for hemorrhagic transformation.
