Fabrication of rice flour films reinforced with hemp hurd and loaded with grapefruit seed oil: A simple way to valorize agro-waste resources toward low cost materials with added value

Gianluca Viscusi et al.

Summary: Novel biodegradable films based on rice flour loaded with hemp hurd powder and grapefruit seed oil were fabricated and analyzed for their mechanical, thermal, and barrier properties. The addition of hemp hurd led to improvements in mechanical properties and reductions in water sorption and diffusion parameters, while optical properties remained relatively unaffected. The release of grapefruit seed oil was studied and correlated with hemp hurd loading.

Effect of earthworms on mycorrhization, root morphology and biomass of silver fir seedlings inoculated with black summer truffle (Tuber aestivum Vittad.)

Tina Unuk Nahberger et al.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of using silver fir as a suitable host partner for commercial mycorrhization with truffles, and the impact of earthworms on mycorrhization dynamics in the inoculation substrate. The results showed that silver fir was confirmed as a suitable partner for mycorrhization with truffles, achieving high mycorrhization rates under certain conditions. The effects of earthworms on mycorrhization were variable at different time points, with overall complex effects observed.
