Gamma frequency activation of inhibitory neurons in the acute phase after stroke attenuates vascular and behavioral dysfunction

Matilde Balbi et al.

Summary: This study found that optogenetic stimulation at 40 Hz in the acute phase after stroke can improve neuronal activity, blood flow, reduce lesion volume, and enhance motor function. This suggests that modulation of cortical oscillatory dynamics in the acute phase may serve as a target for neuroprotection against stroke.
