CdSe nanorod-reinforced poly(thiophene) composites in designing energy storage devices: study of morphology and dielectric behavior

Rashmi Singh et al.

Summary: The study synthesized Polythiophene (PTh) and its nanocomposites (PTh/CdSe) using a chemical oxidative polymerization method, confirming the presence of CdSe in PTh matrix. The nanocomposites showed higher conductivity and charge storage capacity compared to the native material. These results offer new possibilities in designing energy storage devices using conducting polymer/semiconductor nanocomposites.

Intrinsically Conductive Microbial Nanowires for 'Green' Electronics with Novel Functions

Derek R. Lovley et al.

Summary: Intrinsically conductive protein nanowires produced from inexpensive, renewable feedstocks offer a sustainable alternative to traditional nanowire electronic materials, with potential for various applications in electronics without the need for high energy inputs or toxic chemicals. Further development of these protein nanowire electronics will require interdisciplinary teams of engineers, biophysicists, and synthetic biologists.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of nanorod design and attraction strength on the morphology and conformation of polymer nanocomposites using coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that the design parameters significantly influence the morphology and conformation of the nanocomposites, providing valuable design rules for specific applications.

Phase behavior of polymer-nanorod composites: A comparative study using PRISM theory and molecular dynamics simulations

Umashankar Erigi et al.

Summary: The study uses PRISM theory and molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the structure and phase behavior of polymer nanocomposites with nanorods. Both methods predict the formation of different aggregates based on the strength of polymer-nanorod interactions and show that the miscible region narrows with increasing nanorod aspect ratio. Results suggest that theory and simulations qualitatively complement each other but display quantitative differences.

Diffusion of Thin Nanorods in Polymer Melts

Jiuling Wang et al.

Summary: The diffusion of monomerically thin nanorods in polymer melts is affected by both chain length and entanglement, leading to varying diffusion coefficients in different directions with increasing rod length. The findings show a complex relationship between nanorod motion and polymer properties.
