Sulfated glycosaminoglycans in decellularized placenta matrix as critical regulators for cutaneous wound healing

Chen Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the glycosaminoglycanomics of decellularized extracellular matrices (dECMs) from perinatal tissues were investigated, highlighting the critical roles of sulfated glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in promoting tissue regeneration. The placenta-derived dECM hydrogel showed superior therapeutic effects due to higher contents of chondroitin sulfate with 6-O-sulfo group (CS-6S) and heparan sulfate with 6-O-sulfo group (HS-6S), which play important roles in inflammation and angiogenesis. This study provides insight into the use of placenta-derived ECM hydrogel for regenerative applications.

Renal subcapsular delivery of PGE2 promotes kidney repair by activating endogenous Sox9+ stem cells

Shang Chen et al.

Summary: The study found that by covalently cross-linking PGE(2) to a collagen matrix, it can achieve long-term presence in the kidney, significantly improve kidney function, and activate endogenous renal progenitor cells. The research highlights the potential of renal subcapsular-based drug delivery and expands the applications of PGE(2)-releasing matrices in regenerative therapy.

Toward a Better Regeneration through Implant-Mediated Immunomodulation: Harnessing the Immune Responses

Ben Zhang et al.

Summary: This review provides an in-depth analysis of immune response in tissue repair/regeneration and discusses various implant-mediated immunomodulation strategies. It focuses on major immune cells such as neutrophils, macrophages, and T cells, as well as methods to regulate immune response through physical, chemical, and biological cues. Finally, scaffold-facilitated regenerations of different tissue types are presented, highlighting the importance of immunomodulation in tissue regeneration.

Bidirectional differentiation of BMSCs induced by a biomimetic procallus based on a gelatin-reduced graphene oxide reinforced hydrogel for rapid bone regeneration

Delong Jiao et al.

Summary: The gelatin-reduced graphene oxide composite can mimic natural bone healing process and promote rapid bone repair through regulating its ratio, inducing bi-differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells, and providing bioactive signals. This biomimetic composite shows promising potential in segmental bone defect repair with its ability to provide a conducive microenvironment for cell differentiation.
