Development of a real-time quantitative PCR method for detection and quantification of Prevotella copri

Phebe Verbrugghe et al.

Summary: A Sybr Green qPCR protocol was developed for accurate detection and quantification of P. copri, showing higher specificity and sensitivity compared to existing PCR methods. The new 16S rRNA primer set provided the best balance of detecting a wide range of P. copri strains while avoiding off-target detection. Additionally, the two genome specific primer pairs allowed for differential detection of indigenous and experimentally administered P. copri populations.
