Decomposition analysis of air pollutants during the transition and post-transition periods in the Czech Republic

M. Scasny et al.

Summary: In this study, air pollutant emissions in the Czech Republic are decomposed into five factors using a unique dataset, with a focus on the period from 1990 to 2019. Emissions decreased substantially in the 1990s, remained stable for a period, and then declined again. The effects contributing to these changes are quantified and the differences between a standard 3-factor decomposition and a 4-factor analysis are examined.

Premature mortality due to air pollution in European cities: a health impact assessment

Sasha Khomenko et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of air pollution on adult residents in nearly 1000 cities in Europe, finding that compliance with WHO air pollution guidelines could prevent a significant number of deaths. There were significant variations in air pollution effects among cities, indicating the need for urgent policy actions to reduce pollution and create healthier urban environments.
