Effect and mechanism of encapsulation on aging characteristics of quantum-dot light-emitting diodes

Zinan Chen et al.

Summary: The efficiency and luminance evolution of quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) are greatly affected by encapsulation, with positive aging effects observed when encapsulated with ultraviolet curable resin. A physical and analytical model identified that the efficiency improvement is mainly due to the suppression of hole leakage current resulting from ZnMgO defects passivation. With further encapsulation with desiccant, the positive aging effect disappears, but incorporating desiccant after the positive aging process results in improved performance metrics, showcasing the potential for efficient and stable QLEDs.

Highly Robust, Flexible Top-Emission Organic Light-Emitting Diode Exhibiting Stable Performance under Infolding of Curvature Radius of 0.32 mm

Hansol Jeong et al.

Summary: Flexible top-emission organic light-emitting diodes (TOLEDs) with thin-film encapsulation (TFE) are being increasingly studied for improved flexibility in foldable smartphone organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. Testing has shown stable device performance with 30 nm SiNx thickness at a curvature radius of 0.32 mm, but significant degradation during outfolding tests. The water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) is higher with 30 nm SiNx compared to thicker SiNx (e.g., 50 nm), and using a four-stacked TFE with 30 nm SiNx may improve flexibility and WVTR for foldable active-matrix OLED displays.
