Time-domain NMR analysis for the determination of water content in pharmaceutical ingredients and wet granules

Kosuke Ohgi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the application of time-domain NMR analysis to quantify water content in pharmaceutical ingredients. The analysis of T-2 relaxation curves and partial least squares regression were used to create accurate models for water content assessment. The method showed precise determination of water content with nondestructive and rapid measurements, making it a powerful quantitative tool for pharmaceutical water content determination.

An ethanethioate functionalized polythiophene as an optical probe for sensitive and fast detection of water content in organic solvents

Lihua Liu et al.

Summary: A new polythiophene-based optical probe, PTS, has been designed and prepared for sensitive and rapid detection of water in organic solvents such as THF, DMF, and DMAc. The probe showed a linear reduction in fluorescence intensity at 550nm with increasing water content, and was able to detect water in the range of 0-30% in THF, 0-10% in DMF, and 0-10% in DMAc, with low limits of detection. Additionally, PTS was successfully applied for naked-eye detection of water in DMF and DMAc and compared favorably with the standard Karl Fischer titration method for estimating water content in real samples.

Colorimetric detection of water content in organic solvents via a smartphone with fluorescent Ag nanoclusters

Ningxin Kong et al.

Summary: The water content in solvents can be accurately detected using fluorescent Ag nanoclusters with the help of a smartphone. The G/B values showed a linear relationship with water content in ethanol, with a detection limit of 4.48%. The method showed good consistency when applied to real samples like white wine and medical alcohol.
