Examining the Effects of Household Chaos on Child Executive Functions: A Meta-Analysis

Krysta Andrews et al.

Summary: Household chaos is negatively associated with child executive functioning and effortful control, with informant-completed questionnaires showing a stronger effect compared to direct assessment. Further research is needed to explore the differences in construct measurement between questionnaire and direct assessment methods. Adopting a multi-method approach to assessment is recommended for a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between environmental features and child cognitive function.
