Strain Sensor Based on Rectangular Microstrip Antenna: Numerical Methodologies and Experimental Validation

Summary: This study implements two different computational methodologies to predict the behavior of a strain sensor based on a microstrip antenna, one based on patch length variations and the other using a Multiphysics model to couple mechanical and electromagnetic phenomena. Experimental validation shows that the proposed models clearly describe the behavior of the sensor, which operates in an ISM band and can be integrated with commercial electronic devices.

Summary: The newly proposed long-gauge fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensor has enhanced strain sensitivity and excellent stability, suitable for monitoring and strengthening various structures. Experimental results show that the sensor has higher sensitivity to strain and temperature compared to traditional sensors, with low repeatability error.
