Highly tough and ultrafast self-healable dual physically crosslinked sulfated alginate-based polyurethane elastomers for vascular tissue engineering

Azadeh Mostafavi et al.

Summary: The study synthesized highly tough supramolecular biologically active alginate-based polyurethane elastomers with low modulus, high toughness, stretchability, ultrafast self-healing, and excellent anticoagulation ability. In vitro studies demonstrated superior endothelial cell attachment and significantly lower platelet adhesion for BASPUs compared to commercial vascular prostheses. Histological studies of subcutaneously implanted scaffolds showed low fibrosis and gradual biodegradation over 2 months.

Nanoscale mechanical and electrical characterization of the interphase in polyimide/silicon nitride nanocomposites

Mohammed Houssat et al.

Summary: Polymer nanocomposites have shown significant improvements in electrical, mechanical and thermal properties compared to neat matrices or microcomposites, mainly due to the interphase between nanoparticles and the matrix. Experimental characterization of the interphase properties is limited despite the theoretical descriptions.
