Quantum capacitance of supercapacitor electrodes based on germanene influenced by vacancy and co-doping: A first-principles study

Qingxiao Zhou et al.

Summary: Germanene, with high volume/surface ratio similar to graphene, is considered to be a promising electrode material for supercapacitors. Research findings indicate that introducing transition-metal dopants can significantly enhance the quantum capacitance of germanene, with co-doped germanene showing higher C-Q at negative local potential, making it a potential candidate for cathode materials in supercapacitors. Co-doping is found to be more effective than vacancy-defect in enhancing the quantum capacitance of germanene.

Interfacial Chemical Effects of Amorphous Zinc Oxide/Graphene

Zhuo Zhao et al.

Summary: Research on preparation and performance of graphene composite materials is a hot topic due to graphene's excellent electrical and mechanical properties. In this study, an amorphous ZnO/graphene composite film was successfully fabricated on a flexible PET substrate using vacuum thermal evaporation. The electrical properties of the composite film were found to be better than pure ZnO but lower than graphene, contrary to original theoretical research. The abnormal electrical performance was further explained through XPS detection and first-principles calculations, shedding light on the mechanism affecting the photoelectric properties of amorphous composite films.
