Surface Lattice Oxygen Activation on Sr2Sb2O7 Enhances the Photocatalytic Mineralization of Toluene: from Reactant Activation, Intermediate Conversion to Product Desorption

Lvcun Chen et al.

Summary: Sr2Sb2O7 demonstrates superior photocatalytic performance compared to TiO2 in toluene mineralization, attributed to the efficient activation of lattice oxygen. This activation enhances adsorption and activation of O-2 and H2O molecules, leading to increased production of radicals and improved selectivity.

In-situ construction of Z-scheme g-C3N4/WO3 composite with enhanced visible-light responsive performance for nitenpyram degradation

Shiqiao Zhou et al.

Summary: By developing a Z-scheme WO3/g-C3N4 photocatalyst, the degradation activity of nitenpyram was significantly improved. The enhancement is attributed to the fast transfer of photogenerated carriers in the Z-scheme structure. The study provides important insights into understanding the degradation mechanism of pesticides in real water environmental conditions and promoting the development of environmental remediation technologies.

Iodide-Induced Fragmentation of Polymerized Hydrophilic Carbon Nitride for High-Performance Quasi-Homogeneous Photocatalytic H2O2 Production

Huinan Che et al.

Summary: The TP-PCN photocatalyst with abundant edge active sites exhibits superior H2O2 generation rate, providing a new strategy for designing efficient photocatalysts. Furthermore, DFT calculations suggest that TP-PCN is more favorable for electron transiting, optimizing O-2 activation and reducing the energy barrier of H2O2 formation.

Photocatalytic reaction mechanisms at a gas-solid interface for typical air pollutant decomposition

Ruimin Chen et al.

Summary: Various technologies have been developed to control air pollution and mitigate its impact on human health and the environment. Photocatalysis is a promising technology that can decompose gaseous pollutants at room temperature. This review focuses on improving the efficiency of photocatalytic degradation by investigating the reaction mechanisms at a gas-solid interface, summarizing detection methods, analyzing efforts to increase pollutants adsorption and activation, reviewing degradation pathways of typical air pollutants, and discussing approaches to optimize the reaction processes.

Degradation behavior of mixed and isolated aromatic ring containing VOCs: Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetics, photodegradation, in-situ FTIR and DFT studies

Asad Mahmood et al.

Summary: The study found that the degradation of VOCs in mixed mode is significantly influenced by the presence of different organic pollutants, with benzene showing lower degradation efficiency under mixed conditions mainly due to the presence of p-xylene. The presence of oxygen vacancy on TiO2 surface greatly improved the overall adsorption of VOCs.
