Facile construction of novel organic-inorganic tetra (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction for tetracycline degradation: Performance, degradation pathways, intermediate toxicity analysis and mechanism insight

Chunchun Wang et al.

Summary: Developing durable photocatalysts for efficient antibiotics degradation is crucial for environmental purification. In this study, hierarchical organic-inorganic TCPP/Bi2MoO6 heterojunctions were successfully synthesized and showed superior photocatalytic performance in the visible light degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride. The high catalytic activity was attributed to the interfacial interaction between TCPP and Bi2MoO6, which facilitated charge carrier separation and enhanced visible-light absorbance.

Synergistic effect of nitrogen vacancy on ultrathin graphitic carbon nitride porous nanosheets for highly efficient photocatalytic H2 evolution

Yazhou Zhang et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized ultrathin and porous nanosheets through a thermal exfoliation method, and introduced N vacancies to enhance photocatalytic performance. The results showed that the ultrathin nanosheets exhibited superior visible-light-driven H2 evolution activity by strengthening the separation of photo-generated carriers through the in-plane electronic structure and providing abundant reaction sites.

Oxygen-deficient bismuth molybdate nanocatalysts: Synergistic effects in boosting photocatalytic oxidative coupling of benzylamine and mechanistic insight

Witchaya Phasayavan et al.

Summary: Bismuth molybdate nanocatalysts with oxygen vacancies significantly enhance the photocatalytic performance for the oxidative coupling of benzylamine to N-benzylidenebenzylamine under visible light irradiation. The oxygen-deficient Bi2MoO6 nanoplatelets exhibit higher catalytic activity due to their high surface-to-volume ratio and oxygen vacancies.

Visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation of ofloxacin (OFL) antibiotic and Rhodamine B (RhB) dye by solvothermally grown ZnO/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction

Tammanoon Chankhanittha et al.

Summary: Hierarchical 3D ZnO/Bi2MoO6 heterojunctions were successfully fabricated via an in-situ solvothermal method, showing characteristic diffraction peaks corresponding to ZnO and Bi2MoO6 with band gap energies of 3.25 eV and 2.76 eV, respectively. The heterojunction exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance, achieving 100% and 92% efficiency in degrading OFL antibiotic and RhB dye, respectively, due to improved electron-hole separation and larger surface area.

The enhanced visible light driven photocatalytic inactivation of Escherichia coli with Z-Scheme Bi2O3/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction and mechanism insight

Huanxian Shi et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic technology, particularly using the Z-scheme Bi2O3/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction, has shown promising results in effectively inactivating pathogenic microorganisms such as E. coli under visible light stimulation. The higher spatial separation efficiency of photoexcited electron-hole pairs and improved visible light absorption ability in the BO/BMO heterojunctions contribute to their enhanced photocatalytic performance. This research provides a potential avenue for the development of novel Bi2MoO6-based photocatalysts for pathogenic microorganisms removal.

Disordered nitrogen-defect-rich porous carbon nitride photocatalyst for highly efficient H2 evolution under visible-light irradiation

Cheng Cheng et al.

Summary: The optimal choice for preparing high-performance GCN appears to be biuret, as BCN exhibited a long-range atomic disordered structure with numerous nitrogen defects embedded and extended visible-light absorption, improved charge carrier separation, and rich available reactive sites. This resulted in ultrahigh photocatalytic H-2 production and excellent O-2 production performance, with a high AQY of 45.5% at 420 nm, making it one of the top performers among GCN-based photocatalysts.
