Non-oxidative coupling of methane over Pd-loaded gallium oxide photocatalysts in a flow reactor

Surya Pratap Singh et al.

Summary: In this study, photocatalytic conversion of methane to ethane and hydrogen was successfully achieved using gallium oxide catalyst at room temperature. The addition of Pd cocatalyst improved the activity of the catalyst, leading to higher formation rates of ethane and hydrogen.

Efficient Visible-Light Driven Photothermal Conversion of CO2 to Methane by Nickel Nanoparticles Supported on Barium Titanate

Diego Mateo et al.

Summary: A new composite catalyst consisting of Ni nanoparticles supported on barium titanate has been developed for efficient conversion of CO2 to CH4 under illumination, achieving nearly 100% selectivity and high production rates. Mechanistic studies suggest a nonthermal hot-electron-driven pathway is dominant in the reaction.

A Pd-Bi Dual-Cocatalyst-Loaded Gallium Oxide Photocatalyst for Selective and Stable Nonoxidative Coupling of Methane

Surya Pratap Singh et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the high efficiency and selectivity of the Pd-Bi/Ga2O3 photocatalyst for NOCM reaction, producing ethane and hydrogen from methane at low temperature. The photocatalyst shows high production rate, reaction selectivity, and stability, exceeding the thermodynamic limitation for methane conversion.

Visible-light driven room-temperature coupling of methane to ethane by atomically dispersed Au on WO3

Xing Yang Wu et al.

Summary: The combination of gold as co-catalyst and singlet oxygen as oxidant is an effective strategy for selectively converting methane. Atomically dispersed Au on WO3 showed enhanced visible light photocatalytic conversion of CH4, with a high selectivity. Investigation of the radicals-pathway mechanism of methane coupling and theoretical calculations on the electronic structure of Au/WO3 were conducted for a better understanding of the process.

Methane coupling and hydrogen evolution induced by palladium-loaded gallium oxide photocatalysts in the presence of water vapor

Mizuki Ishimaru et al.

Summary: This study investigated the reaction conditions of Pd-loaded Ga2O3 photocatalysts for enhanced production of ethane and hydrogen, revealing the crucial role of water vapor in promoting the photocatalytic non-oxidative coupling of methane. The presence of water vapor was found to significantly increase the production rate of C2H6 and H-2, with an apparent quantum efficiency of 5.1% under certain conditions. Water adsorbates on the photocatalyst surface were suggested to play a key role in facilitating the dehydrogenative coupling of CH4.
