Unveiling the intermediates/pathways towards photocatalytic dechlorination of 3,3′,4,4′-trtrachlorobiphenyl over Pd /TiO2(B) nanosheets

Wei Guo et al.

Summary: This study introduces a rapid and effective method for photocatalytic dechlorination of PCB77 using highly dispersed Pd nanoclusters loaded two-dimensional TiO2(B) nanosheets under visible light irradiation, achieving a dechlorination efficiency of 100%. It demonstrates that the dechlorination of PCB77 is a stepwise process, with chlorines at the para positions being more susceptible than those at the meta positions.

Facet Engineering of Pd Nanocrystals for Enhancing Photocatalytic Hydrogenation: Modulation of the Schottky Barrier Height and Enrichment of Surface Reactants

Suwei Lu et al.

Summary: Metal cocatalyst loading is a widely explored strategy to promote photocatalytic solar energy conversion. In this study, the distinct crystal facet effect of Pd cocatalyst in promoting selective hydrogenation of nitroarenes to amines of TiO2 photocatalyst was investigated. It was found that the Pd NO with {111} facet showed higher efficiency as a cocatalyst compared to the Pd NC with exposed {100} facet, due to its modulation of the Schottky barrier height and enrichment of surface reactants. The study highlights the importance of rational facet control of cocatalysts for enhancing photocatalytic hydrogenation performance.

Detection and Quantification of Polychlorinated Biphenyl Sulfates in Human Serum

Duo Zhang et al.

Summary: A sensitive and specific method has been developed for determination of PCB sulfates in human serum, with identification of multiple PCB sulfate congeners in a pooled sample, three of which exhibited the highest concentrations. The method involves extraction, analysis, and quantitation of PCB sulfates from serum, demonstrating its efficacy and potential for further toxicological studies.
