SiameseGAN: A Generative Model for Denoising of Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Images

Nilesh A. Kande et al.

Summary: In this study, a new deep generative model SiameseGAN was developed for denoising SDOCT B-scans. The SiameseGAN model generates denoised images closer to the groundtruth images using a siamese network, while the discriminator ensures the realism of the images. Experimental results showed that SiameseGAN effectively mitigates speckle noise and offers faster denoising compared to existing approaches.

Real-time noise reduction based on ground truth free deep learning for optical coherence tomography

Yong Huang et al.

Summary: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high-resolution 3D imaging modality widely used in biomedical research. Both frame-averaging technique and deep learning-based methods can significantly enhance image quality by reducing noise. Different network structures have been trained and evaluated for noise reduction on OCT images with varying success rates and computational speeds.

Artifacts and artifact removal in optical coherence tomographic angiography

Tristan T. Hormel et al.

Summary: Optical coherence tomographic angiography (OCTA) allows for rapid three-dimensional imaging of retinal vasculature, but artifacts in the data can impact measurement accuracy. Compensation for these artifacts can improve the reliability of OCTA measurements, highlighting the importance of hardware and software capable of artifact removal in using the technology effectively.

Unsupervised Denoising of Optical Coherence Tomography Images With Nonlocal-Generative Adversarial Network

Anjing Guo et al.

Summary: This article introduces an unsupervised deep learning model for OCT image denoising, training the model without clean reference images. By creatively training a discriminator to guide the denoiser, the nonlocal-GAN model effectively enhances denoising performance. The addition of a nonlocal means layer and the nonlocal-GAN-M model further improve efficiency and effectiveness in denoising OCT images.
