Highly boron-selective adsorbent by radiation induced grafting of N-vinylformamide on polyethylene/polypropylene sheet followed by hydrolysis and glycidol treatment

Haruna Kolawole Afolabi et al.

Summary: An adsorbent with high boron selectivity was prepared by modification of fibrous polyethylene/polypropylene nonwoven sheet via radiation induced grafting of NVF followed by hydrolysis and functionalization. The fibrous adsorbent with fully hydrolyzed P(NVF) grafts exhibited superior boron adsorption capacity compared to other counterparts at pH 7.

Facile preparation of fibrous glycidol-containing adsorbent for boron removal from solutions by radiation-induced grafting of poly(vinylamine) and functionalisation

Haruna Kolawole Afolabi et al.

Summary: A boron-selective adsorbent was prepared through radiation induced graft copolymerization, demonstrating excellent adsorption properties with controlled content of hydrolyzed poly(N-vinylformamide) grafts. The adsorbent showed appealing stability and high adsorption capacity, making it highly effective for boron removal from aqueous solutions.

Recent advances in adsorption and coagulation for boron removal from wastewater: A comprehensive review

Jui-Yen Lin et al.

Summary: The anthropogenic emission of boron to rivers has posed a serious threat to water quality and ecosystems, but can be effectively removed through adsorption and coagulation methods. Boron sources mainly include coal-fired and geothermal power plants, as well as oil/gas extraction activities. Various types of adsorbents and coagulants, reaction mechanisms, progress in the past 5 years, and future research prospects and improvements have been discussed comprehensively in this review.

Chelating Fabrics Prepared by an Organic Solvent-Free Process for Boron Removal from Water

Hiroyuki Hoshina et al.

Summary: A chelating fabric was prepared by graft polymerization of GMA onto a nonwoven fabric, followed by attachment reaction of NMDG using an organic solvent-free process. The chelating fabric showed high boron chelating ability in concentrated boron solution and could be completely eluted by HCl solution. The fabric also demonstrated stability in chelation-elution operations over 10 cycles.
