Bayesian data analysis reveals no preference for cardinal Tafel slopes in CO2 reduction electrocatalysis

Aditya M. Limaye et al.

Summary: The authors introduce a Bayesian data analysis approach to estimate the Tafel slope of electrochemical catalysts, providing robust uncertainty estimates and alleviating the need for human intervention. By re-analyzing data from the CO2 reduction literature, they find no systematic preference for certain cardinal Tafel slopes.

The Interrelated Effect of Cations and Electrolyte pH on the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on Gold Electrodes in Alkaline Media

Akansha Goyal et al.

Summary: Increasing the alkali metal cation concentration enhances the activity of the hydrogen evolution reaction on gold electrodes, while increasing the electrolyte pH indirectly affects the reaction activity by tuning the near-surface cation concentration. However, too high near-surface cation concentration can lead to a decrease in the reaction activity due to surface blockage.

Homogeneous Electrocatalytic CO2 Reduction Using a Porphyrin Complex with Flexible Triazole Units in the Second Coordination Sphere

Nilakshi Devi et al.

Summary: The study introduces an iron porphyrin catalyst, FePEG8T, which shows excellent activity, stability, and selectivity in electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CO. Control experiments confirm the contribution of triazole units on high catalytic activity. Long-term electrolysis demonstrates high catalyst stability.

Metal Oxide/Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Catalysts Enables Highly Efficient CO2 Electroreduction

Han Shi et al.

Summary: The synthesis of metal oxide/nitrogen-doped carbon compounds enhances the activity of CO2 reduction reaction and promotes the generation of CO and H2 as primary products. The efficiency and current density of the metal oxide/nitrogen-doped carbon compounds are higher than those of nitrogen-doped carbon alone. The interaction between metal oxides and carbon facilitates the formation of defect sites, particularly imine-type nitrogen, enhancing the adsorption of key reaction intermediates and promoting the CO2 reduction reaction.
