Measurements and characterization of the dynamics of tracer particles in an actin network

Maayan Levin et al.

Summary: The diffusion of a tracer particle in a viscoelastic material can be influenced by the ratio of tracer particle size to the characteristic length scale of the network. The type of diffusion performed by the tracer particles varies based on this ratio, showing features of fBm when the particle is large compared to the mesh size, normal diffusion when much smaller, and CTRW in between. A new model combining fBm and power-law distributed caging events has been proposed to describe the motion of tracer particles in actin networks.

Displacement autocorrelation functions for strong anomalous diffusion: A scaling form, universal behavior, and corrections to scaling

Jurgen Vollmer et al.

Summary: Strong anomalous diffusion is characterized by asymptotic power-law growth of displacement moments, with exponents that do not depend linearly on the moment order. Lower-order moments are influenced by random motion, while higher-order moments grow faster. The fly-and-die model sheds light on this behavior and its impact on displacement autocorrelation functions.
