Reverse dark current in organic photodetectors and the major role of traps as source of noise

Jonas Kublitski et al.

Summary: Organic photodetectors show great potential in low-cost imaging, health monitoring, and near-infrared sensing, but are limited by high dark current noise. Dark current in these devices is mainly caused by traps, which dominate the generation processes and limit their detectivity. Understanding the interplay between traps and charge-transfer states is essential for improving the performance of organic photodetectors.

Incorporating Electrochemical Halide Oxidation into Drift-Diffusion Models to Explain Performance Losses in Perovskite Solar Cells under Prolonged Reverse Bias

Luca Bertoluzzi et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that metal halide perovskite solar cells exhibit interesting behavior in reverse bias, including reversible performance loss and non-reversible degradation. An advanced drift-diffusion approach incorporating an electrochemical term is used to explain the losses in short-circuit, open circuit, and fill factor measured experimentally after prolonged reverse bias.

Mitigating Dark Current for High-Performance Near-Infrared Organic Photodiodes via Charge Blocking and Defect Passivation

Weitao Yang et al.

Summary: This study successfully demonstrated NIR photodiodes based on non-fullerene acceptors with ultralow dark current density and high external quantum efficiency by innovating on charge transport layers. The research also showed the versatility of the method for mitigating dark current for different non-fullerene systems in NIR photodiodes, as well as the practical application of NIR organic photodiodes in image sensors.

Summary: Solution-processed metal halide perovskite photodiodes on plastic substrates can create flexible image sensors with low dark currents and high resolutions. By using an amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide transistor backplane, the system achieves high photodetectivity in the 550 nm to 770 nm wavelength range, making it suitable for applications such as document scanning and biometric fingerprinting.

Pyrene-Based Small-Molecular Hole Transport Layers for Efficient and Stable Narrow-Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

Paula Gomez et al.

Summary: Lead-tin hybrid perovskite materials with narrow bandgaps are promising for solar cells. The use of PDI and PDAI as hole transport layers in Pb-Sn PSCs results in improved device stability and higher power conversion efficiency compared to traditional PEDOT:PSS. PDAI's self-assembled structure enhances robustness and reproducibility of device fabrication.
