Association between Prevailing Circulation Patterns and Coarse Particles in Portugal

Rui Cavaleiro et al.

Summary: Air pollution is a major environmental concern with high socio-economic and public health impacts. Coarse particles (PM10 and PM2.5) are identified as some of the most harmful agents for human health and the environment. Study shows that extreme events, such as mega wildfires and dust intrusion, are associated with southerly and easterly circulations which later disperse due to changes in wind patterns.

Characterization, Source Apportionment and Health Risk Assessment of PM2.5 for a Rural Classroom in the Amazon: A Case Study

Karenn S. Fernandes et al.

Summary: High levels of PM2.5 were measured in a classroom in a rural city near brick kilns and high traffic. Black carbon content indicated influence of burning processes on PM2.5 composition. Soil resuspension, burning processes, and vehicular emissions were identified as main sources of PM2.5.
