Deaminative Olefination of Methyl N-Heteroarenes by an Amine Oxidase Inspired Catalyst

Pradip Ramdas Thorve et al.

Summary: A new method was developed in this study using bioinspired o-quinone cofactor catalyzed aerobic primary amine dehydrogenation, leading to the cascade olefination reaction of nine different methyl N-heteroarenes and providing high yields and (E)-selectivities in synthesizing N-heteroaryl stilbenoids without the need for transition-metal salt, ligand, stoichiometric base, or oxidant under mild conditions.

Aerobic primary and secondary amine oxidation cascade by a copper amine oxidase inspired catalyst

Pradip Ramdas Thorve et al.

Summary: A bioinspired catalytic system was developed for the one-pot cascade oxidation of a native primary amine and an in situ generated non-native secondary amine, yielding quinazolin-4(3H)-ones commonly found in pharmaceuticals and bioactive compounds in high yields. The detailed kinetic and mechanistic study provided insights into the role of the catalyst in the multi-step oxidative cascade reaction.
