The Hubbard Model

Daniel P. Arovas et al.

Summary: The repulsive Hubbard model is crucial for understanding strongly correlated electron systems and exhibits rich phenomenology. However, its phase diagram is still controversial. In this review, we summarize the known information about the model and focus on the ground state properties and important unresolved questions.

How to read between the lines of electronic spectra: the diagnostics of fluctuations in strongly correlated electron systems

Thomas Schaefer et al.

Summary: This article provides a comprehensive overview of different methodologies developed to identify the dominant two-particle scattering processes controlling the shape of single-particle spectral functions and the physical response of correlated electron systems. The approaches rely on selective analysis of the Schwinger-Dyson or Bethe-Salpeter equations, with methodological differences originating from the specific two-particle vertex functions to be computed and decomposed. The potential strength of these methodologies is illustrated through applications to the two-dimensional Hubbard model, offering insights for future developments in understanding the physics of correlated electrons.

Nevanlinna Analytical Continuation

Jiani Fei et al.

Summary: By explicitly respecting the analytic Nevanlinna structure of Green's function, this study shows that positive and normalized spectral functions can be obtained, and presents a continued fraction expansion method to derive all possible functions consistent with the analytic structure. Application to synthetic trial data and the band structure of silicon demonstrate the accurate resolution of sharp, smooth, and multipeak data, as well as high energy features. Continuations in a realistic correlated setup reveal previously unresolved additional features, substantially increasing the resolution of real frequency calculations and overcoming a main limitation of finite-temperature quantum simulations.

Entropy in the Non-Fermi-Liquid Regime of the Doped 2D Hubbard Model

Connor Lenihan et al.

Summary: In this study of the doped Hubbard model on the square lattice, thermodynamic properties were investigated near the metal-to-insulator crossover using the diagrammatic Monte Carlo method with controlled accuracy in the thermodynamic limit. The results revealed a non-Fermi-liquid state at high interactions near half filling, with the entropy measurements serving as a probe of the system's state.

How correlations change the magnetic structure factor of the kagome Hubbard model

Josef Kaufmann et al.

Summary: The kagome Hubbard model is a frustrated two-dimensional model with different regimes of strong and weak correlations. Studies revealed that in metallic kagome materials, there are no tendencies towards magnetic ordering and the magnetic correlations remain short-range.

Efficient matrix product state methods for extracting spectral information on rings and cylinders

Maarten Van Damme et al.

Summary: This study introduces an efficient method for capturing excited states in finite systems with open boundary conditions based on the matrix product state formalism, allowing for computation of the spectral gap of quantum spin chains. Despite the explicit breaking of translation symmetry, momentum emerges as a good quantum number for labeling excitations on top of MPS ground states. This method is also successfully applied to systems with periodic boundary conditions.

Superfluid ground state phase diagram of the two-dimensional Hubbard model in the emergent Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer regime

Fedor Simkovic et al.

Summary: This study investigates the superfluid instability in the 2D Hubbard model using a nonperturbative approach and maps out the superfluid ground-state phase diagram under various parameter ranges. The phase diagram undergoes dramatic transformations in different regions, showing rich physical phenomena under different parameter conditions.

Pairing correlations in the cuprates: A numerical study of the three-band Hubbard model

Peizhi Mai et al.

Summary: The study utilizes determinant quantum Monte Carlo and the dynamical cluster approximation to investigate the three-band Hubbard model for the copper oxide plane in high-temperature superconducting cuprates. By analyzing the pair-field susceptibility and solving the Bethe-Salpeter equation, the research reveals the optimal charge-transfer energy value for the model to achieve the highest transition temperature to the superconducting phase. These findings have implications for understanding superconductivity in cuprates and other doped charge-transfer insulators.
