Cognitive impairment and a ered cerebral glucose metabolism in the subacute stage of COVID-19

Jonas A. Hosp et al.

Summary: During the COVID-19 pandemic, a prospective cohort study investigated neurological and cognitive symptoms in hospitalized patients, revealing that gustation and olfaction were commonly affected, along with cognitive impairment. Abnormalities in neuronal metabolism were associated with cognitive decline, highlighting the importance of neurological monitoring in COVID-19 patients.

Mass-tag barcoding for multiplexed analysis of human synaptosomes and other anuclear events

Chandresh R. Gajera et al.

Summary: The use of palladium-based barcoding in human synaptosomes has significantly improved the efficiency of mass cytometry analysis, particularly in identifying presynaptic events. The combination of six palladium-based barcoding reagents and sequential gating has increased the identification of presynaptic events approximately fourfold, and the method has also efficiently resolved other anuclear particles such as human red blood cells and platelets. The addition of palladium-based mass-tag barcoding has enhanced the mass cytometry of synaptic particles.

Long-Term Consequence of Non-neurotropic H3N2 Influenza A Virus Infection for the Progression of Alzheimer's Disease Symptoms

Shirin Hosseini et al.

Summary: Influenza viruses remain a major cause of severe global pandemics and pose a significant threat to the nervous system and cognitive function. Peripheral infection with non-neurotropic influenza viruses may exacerbate Alzheimer's disease symptoms by increasing neuroinflammation and triggering microglial hyperactivation.
