Abrasion wear of austenitic manganese steels via jaw crusher test

P. C. Machado et al.

Summary: Austenitic manganese steels with different Mn contents were evaluated for abrasion wear through jaw crusher tests, showing that the stationary jaw had higher mass loss, attributed to microcutting and microploughing mechanisms, while the movable jaw was mainly affected by micro-indentation. Focused Ion Beam (FIB) analysis revealed the formation of ultrafine grains and deformation twins in the subsurface layer due to wear.
