Transformation of phthalates and their metabolites in wastewater under different sewer conditions

Chang He et al.

Summary: The study found that in sewer, the concentration of parent phthalates decreased while the concentration of phthalate metabolites increased, indicating a transformation of parent phthalates into their metabolites. The deconjugation process did not significantly affect the concentration of phthalate metabolites, and the metabolites could undergo rapid degradation during incubation.

Quantification of selected analgesics and their metabolites in influent wastewater by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry

Fahad Ahmed et al.

Summary: Wastewater-based epidemiology is a useful tool for analyzing patterns of community drug use, with a method developed and validated to track analgesics in wastewater. By using liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry, the method can detect analgesics in wastewater to estimate consumption levels.
