Despite rapid progress in nanomaterial sciences, there is still a lack of information on their implementation in water treatment. Developing cheaper, safer, and more efficient technologies using nanomaterials is crucial for addressing the growing scarcity of usable water resources.

Integral evaluation of granular activated carbon at four stages of a full-scale WWTP deodorization system

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive evaluation and analysis of the deodorization system of granular active carbon used by a wastewater treatment plant, revealing a larger amount and variety of retained odoriferous compounds. Sulfur-containing compounds were identified as the major odor contributors, and multi-technical analysis may be a suitable approach to better understand the odor removal effectiveness of GAC adsorption.
