Formal and informal waste selective collection in developing megacities: Analysis of residents' involvement in Bolivia

Navarro Ferronato et al.

Summary: Implementing waste selective collection schemes in low-income countries is challenging but important for improving environmental sustainability. Inclusion of the population is necessary for effective results, and social surveys are useful for understanding citizens' involvement. The study demonstrates the importance of social inclusion in planning recycling systems.

Designing a smart incentive-based recycling system for household recyclable waste

Jieyu Zhou et al.

Summary: Household waste recycling is a global challenge, and incentive mechanisms are effective measures to increase resident participation in recycling activities. The designed smart incentive-based recycling system utilizes IoT and data analysis technologies, with four key components to enhance waste recycling efficiency and resource allocation by constructing a smarter system.

Towards the circular economy: Analysis of barriers to implementation of Turkey's zero waste management using the fuzzy DEMATEL method

Ejder Aycin et al.

Summary: Zero waste plays a crucial role in the circular economy model by manufacturing recyclable products instead of fast-moving consumer goods, reducing waste, and implementing recycling/reuse technologies to ensure resource efficiency. This study aims to identify the barriers to zero waste management in Turkey, with a focus on the lack of clarity in circular economy goals and tactics, as well as the absence of financial and economic support. Through fuzzy DEMATEL methodology, it is found that these barriers are interdependent and uncertainty in goals and tactics, along with financial constraints, are significant barriers affecting zero waste management success in Turkey.
