Modeling landfill CH4 emissions: CALMIM international field validation, using CALMIM to simulate management strategies, current and future climate scenarios

Summary: The current IPCC landfill methane methodology does not consider critical factors influencing emissions, while the CALMIM model incorporates site-specific climate, cover soils, engineered biogas recovery, and other strategies to estimate the effects of gas transport and oxidation on any cover soil at any global location. The CALMIM model overpredicted 30 surface CH4 emission measurements and underpredicted 13, suggesting the need for further refinement for accurate predictions.
