Identification of a novel hantavirus strain in the root vole (Microtus oeconomus) in Lithuania, Eastern Europe

Stephan Drewes et al.

Summary: A new hantavirus, tentatively named Rusne virus, was detected in Microtus voles in Lithuania, showing high sequence similarity to other hantaviruses. The findings suggest root voles as the potential reservoir host for this novel virus. Further studies are needed to explore the evolutionary relationships between TRAV, TATV, Kielder virus, and Rusne virus.
