An ultra-sensitive colorimetric sensor based on smartphone for pyrophosphate determination

Chen Dong et al.

Summary: This study presents a smartphone-based colorimetric sensor for the detection of PPi in water and canned meat. The sensor, based on anti-aggregation of PVP modified silver nanoparticles caused by Pb2+, exhibits high sensitivity and accuracy, making it a feasible and real-time tool for PPi detection in food samples. The first-principles calculations support the anti-aggregation detection mechanism and provide a meaningful design strategy for future colorimetric sensors.

Gold nanoclusters reversible switches based on aluminum ions-triggered for detection of pyrophosphate and acid phosphatase activity

Haitham Saad Al-mashriqi et al.

Summary: Gold nanoclusters were synthesized using glutathione as a reducing agent and stabilizer. Aluminum ions triggered the aggregation of AuNCs, leading to significant fluorescence, which can be disaggregated with the addition of pyrophosphate. A novel fluorescence turn-on-off-on detection method for PPi and ACP activity was established, with excellent sensing efficiency in real samples.
