A highly selective sequential recognition probe for Zn2+ and HSO4-/H2PO4- based on a diarylethene chemosensor

Summary: The novel diarylethene derivative chemosensor DTP-o connected to Schiff base unit was successfully designed and synthesized, showing excellent photochromism and fluorometric sensing towards Zn2+ with a detection limit of 5.62 x 10(-7) M. The DTP-o-Zn2+ complex exhibited a fluorescent relay-response towards HSO4- and H2PO4- with high sensitivity and selectivity, with detection limits as low as 3.04 x 10(-8) M and 3.41 x 10(-8) M, respectively. Additionally, the sensor could be applied for accurate detection of Zn2+ in practical samples and test strips.

Europium(III) complex fluorescent sensor for dual channel recognition of Sn2+ and Cu2+ ions in water

Summary: A new europium(III) complex with a novel ligand was successfully synthesized and its fluorescent properties were systematically studied. The fluorescence intensity of the complex changed when different metal ions were added, with enhancements seen with Sn2+ and quenching observed with Cu2+. The sensor showed high sensitivity with LODs of 4.52 x 10(-7) mol L-1 for Sn2+ and 1.11 x 10(-7) mol L-1 for Cu2+, and was proven effective in detecting tin and copper in practical samples.
