Protease Biosensor by Conversion of a Homogeneous Assay into a Surface-Tethered Electrochemical Analysis Based on Streptavidin-Biotin Interactions

Ning Xia et al.

Summary: This work proposed a new sensing strategy for protease detection by converting a homogeneous assay into a surface-tethered electrochemical analysis. With the simple principle of substrate-induced assembly of streptavidin, a dual-signal amplification was achieved with improved sensitivity. This method, with its high sensitivity, simple principle, and easy operation, can be augmented to design various surface-tethered biosensors for practical applications.

Aptamer-Based Detection of Circulating Targets for Precision Medicine

Lingling Wu et al.

Summary: In the past decade, precision medicine has made continuous progress in improving human health. Liquid biopsy, as an emerging diagnostic technique, relies on the sensitive and reliable detection of circulating targets using aptamers as recognition ligands, offering real-time, comprehensive physiological and pathological information in a non-invasive manner. Aptamers, with their unique tertiary structures and superior specificity and affinity, are ideal recognition ligands for liquid biopsy, making them a promising tool for precision medicine.

Point-of-care cancer diagnostic devices: From academic research to clinical translation

Leila Syedmoradi et al.

Summary: Early and timely diagnosis of cancer is crucial for appropriate treatment and improved outcomes. Advances in biosensor technology have led to the development of point-of-care (POC) diagnostic devices that offer faster, more cost-effective testing processes. Incorporation of nanomaterials into sensing platforms has further enhanced sensitivity and reduced complexity. However, translating these innovative POC technologies into clinical settings faces challenges such as sampling procedures, sensitivity levels, and integration requirements.

Colorimetric and fluorometric dual-readout protein kinase assay by tuning the active surface of nanoceria

Sujuan Sun et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the active surface of nanoceria can be adjusted by phosphorylated peptides, leading to the development of a dual-readout strategy for assaying protein kinase activity. This not only allows for versatile monitoring of peptide phosphorylation, but also expands the application scope of nanoceria.
