Synthesis and characterization of layered Nb2C MXene/ZnS nanocomposites for highly selective electrochemical sensing of dopamine

Nimrah Arif et al.

Summary: MXene material Nb2C is widely applied in lithium ion batteries and supercapacitors, but its application in the sensing field has not been explored. This study reports the synthesis and application of Nb2C/ZnS nanocomposite for dopamine sensing for the first time, showing a wide linear detection range, very low detection limit, and excellent sensitivity.

A new electrochemical sensor based on oxidized capsaicin/multi-walled carbon nanotubes/glassy carbon electrode for the quantification of dopamine, epinephrine, and xanthurenic, ascorbic and uric acids

Leonardo Vieira da Silva et al.

Summary: Capsaicin was used as a redox mediator on multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified glassy carbon electrode for quantitation of xanthurenic, ascorbic, and uric acids, along with dopamine and epinephrine. The presence of reversible redox systems after oxidation of capsaicin is important for redox catalysis, with detection limits ranging from 1.56 to 8.76 µmol L-1. This oxidized CAP-based platform is capable of detecting analytes at a micromolar level efficiently.

Phosphorene and other layered pnictogens as a new source of 2D materials for electrochemical sensors

Maria A. Tapia et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical sensing applications of alternative 2D layered structures produced with elements of group VA, also known as pnictogens. The most popular 2D layered pnictogen, phosphorene nanosheets generated from black phosphorous, is discussed along with the emerging interest in bismuthene and antimonene for sensor design. Factors affecting the stability and sensing abilities of these pnictogens are highlighted, with arsenene being less attractive for biosensing due to its acute toxicity.

Superlubricity under ultrahigh contact pressure enabled by partially oxidized black phosphorus nanosheets

Xiaoyong Ren et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that robust liquid superlubricity can be achieved even under ultrahigh contact pressure by lubricating with partially oxidized black phosphorus nanosheets. The nanosheets absorb water molecules, forming a friction pair interface and contributing to stable superlubricity under ultrahigh contact pressure. This work has the potential to introduce the concept of liquid superlubricity in diverse industrial applications with high-contact-pressure operating conditions.
