Rearrangements and Migrations along the Ferrocene Periphery: On the Way to Planar-Chiral and (Multi)Substitution Patterns

Marcus Korb et al.

Summary: This article summarizes the functionalization of ferrocenes through intramolecular rearrangements. It focuses on anionic, cationic, and thermal/photo-induced processes that enable the migration of functional groups along the periphery of the ferrocene's cyclopentadienyl rings.

On the N-Arylation of Acetamide Using 2-, 3-and 1'-Substituted Iodoferrocenes**

Lingaswamy Kadari et al.

Summary: The study involved the reaction of various substituted iodoferrocenes with acetamide under specific conditions to investigate the impact of substituents and their positions on the products. DFT calculations revealed a higher activation barrier for the oxidative addition in the ferrocene series compared to classical planar aromatics. Structure-property relationships were used to rationalize the reactivity of the different iodoferrocenes.

Palladium- Catalyzed C-P Bond Forming Reactions: An Overview

U. S. Kanchana et al.

Summary: Transition metal catalyzed synthesis of organo-phosphorus compounds, particularly palladium-catalyzed Carbon-Phosphorous bond forming reactions, have shown rapid advances in recent years. The powerful bond-forming ability and wide functional group tolerance of palladium-catalyzed reactions make them an indispensable tool for synthesizing structurally diverse complex molecules. This review focuses on recent advancements in Palladium-catalyzed C-P bond forming reactions and covers literature from 2001 to 2020, providing insights into the chemistry and mechanisms of this type of catalysis.

Structural Variety of Iron Carbonyl Clusters Featuring Ferrocenylphosphines

Marcus Korb et al.

Summary: The reaction chemistry of Fe-2(CO)(9) with ferrocenenyl dichlorophosphines of different substitution patterns was studied, leading to the formation of various novel coordination compounds. The geometric properties of ferrocenyls featuring 1,1'- and 1,2-substitution patterns were found to be distinct from phenyl-based analogues. X-ray single crystal solid state structures, and DFT calculations were utilized to confirm the results.

Cu/Picolinamides-Catalyzed Coupling of (Hetero)aryl Halides with Secondary Phosphine Oxides and Phosphite†

Chao Fang et al.

Summary: Some 4-hydroxy-picolinic acid derived amides were found to be more efficient ligands for Cu-catalyzed coupling of (hetero)aryl halides with secondary phosphine oxides and phosphites. Only 3-5 mol% CuI and ligands were needed to complete the coupling of a number of (hetero)aryl bromides and iodides in 10-20 hours at 120 degrees Celsius.

O-Isopropylferrocenesulfonate: Synthesis of Polysubstituted Derivatives and Electrochemical Study

William Erb et al.

Summary: The synthesis of ferrocenesulfonates using ortho-deprotometalation and halogen dance reactions resulted in original derivatives that were further functionalized from iodinated derivatives. The electrochemical properties of selected ferrocenesulfonates were evaluated and compared with sulfonamide derivatives, revealing halogen bonds in the solid state for iodinated derivatives.

Enantioselective deprotometalation of alkyl ferrocenecarboxylates using bimetallic bases

Gandrath Dayaker et al.

Summary: The enantioselective deprotometalation of alkyl ferrocenecarboxylates using mixed lithium-zinc or lithium-cadmium bases was investigated in this study. Different chiral lithium alkyl-amidozincates showed varied performance in producing enantiomerically enriched derivatives. The reaction with cadmium instead of zinc did not take place, suggesting the different reactivity of the two metal species.

Reversible redox controlled acids for cationic ring-opening polymerization

Michael J. Supej et al.

Summary: Advancements in externally controlled polymerization methodologies have enabled the synthesis of novel polymeric structures and architectures, with a particular focus on the development of ring-opening polymerization methods for biocompatible and biodegradable block polymers. The use of ferrocene-derived acid catalysts with reversible acidity control shows promise for chemically and electrochemically controlling the ROP of cyclic esters.
