Factors related to the resilience and mental health of adult cancer patients: a systematic review

Saori Tamura et al.

Summary: This study found that resilience in cancer patients is related to anxiety, depression, and quality of life, as well as factors such as age, gender, disease-related symptoms, self-efficacy, and hopefulness. Improving resilience is important for maintaining mental health and quality of life in cancer patients, and interventions targeting factors that reduce resilience may provide support for them.

Saori Tamura

Summary: This study clarifies the relationship between resilience and anxiety, depression, quality of life (QOL), and other factors in colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Resilience has a negative effect on anxiety and depression, and a positive effect on QOL, while depression has a negative effect on QOL. The results suggest that enhancing resilience is crucial for maintaining and improving mental health and QOL in these patients.

Factors related to changes in resilience and distress in women with endometrial cancer

Yi-Lin Chang et al.

Summary: Resilience and physical distress did not change significantly over time in women with endometrial cancer, but psychological distress significantly decreased at 2 weeks and 3 months after surgery. Women with less social support had lower resilience and those with lower resilience experienced greater psychological distress. Women who underwent surgery combined with chemotherapy and radiotherapy experienced more physical distress compared to those who received only surgical treatment.
