Thigh loaded wearable resistance increases sagittal plane rotational work of the thigh resulting in slower 50-m sprint times

Paul Macadam et al.

Summary: This study investigated the immediate effects of thigh attached wearable resistance on rotational work during sprinting. The findings showed that the resistance increased sprint times and led to small changes in thigh angular displacement and velocity. However, it significantly increased rotational work during all phases of the sprint.

Timing of Rectus Femoris and Biceps Femoris Muscle Activities in Both Legs at Maximal Running Speed

Gaku Kakehata et al.

Summary: The study found that higher step frequency is correlated with smoother switching of agonist-antagonist muscle activities and earlier activation of the rectus femoris relative to the biceps femoris. To improve sprint performance, athletes and coaches should consider coordination of muscle activities in both legs, not just focusing on muscle activities in one leg.
