Synthesis and electrochemical Li-storage performance of Li2ZrO3-Li3V2(PO4)3/C composites

Limin Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple and efficient synthetic route was developed to prepare LZO-LVPC composites by mechanically ball-milling. The composites showed improved electrochemical performance, with enhanced charge transfer and diffusion of Li+ compared to pristine LVPC. This synthetic method is convenient for large-scale production.

Determining the Diffusion Coefficient of Lithium Insertion Cathodes from GITT measurements: Theoretical Analysis for low Temperatures**

Thomas Schied et al.

Summary: This study discusses the issue of prolonged double layer charging time leading to inaccurate determination of diffusion coefficients at low temperatures during GITT analysis and proposes a model to describe the potential change during a galvanostatic current pulse. The accuracy of the lithium diffusion coefficient derived using the Weppner-Huggins method within a suitable time interval of the pulse is analyzed.

Improving electrochemical performance of LiMn0.5Fe0.5PO4 cathode by hybrid coating of Li3VO4 and carbon

Meng Yu et al.

Summary: LiMnxFe1-xPO4 has competitive energy density and thermal stability, but its rate capability and capacity retention need to be improved. A hybrid layer of Li3VO4 and carbon was successfully coated on LMFP nanorods to enhance its performance. The modified LMFP shows excellent cycling stability and high discharge capacity even at high rates, providing a guideline for high-performance cathode materials.

Quantitative measurement of ion transport phenomena in an operating lithium-ion battery by low-energy X-ray microscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy

Suguru Uemura et al.

Summary: This study successfully achieved quantitative measurements of lithium ion concentrations in a lithium-ion battery using low-energy X-ray microscopy and NMR spectroscopy, revealing steep ion concentration gradients during high discharge rates. By measuring the diffusion coefficient of ions through NMR and calculating the lithium-ion flux from concentration gradient, the results showed good agreement with theoretical values, indicating that ion transport phenomena in operating LIB electrodes can be evaluated quantitatively with this combination of techniques.
