Theoretical Insight into High-Efficiency Triple-Junction Tandem Solar Cells via the Band Engineering of Antimony Chalcogenides

Yu Cao et al.

Summary: This study designed and optimized triple-junction antimony chalcogenides-based solar cells with a high theoretical efficiency. By maintaining a low selenium content in the mid-cell, the external quantum efficiency of the solar cells was increased. Additionally, regulating the bandgap gradient through selenium content gradient in single-junction solar cells improved the conversion efficiency.

Effect of the junction barrier on current-voltage distortions in the Sb2Se3/ Zn(O,S) solar cells

Iman Gharibshahian et al.

Summary: The spike-like energy level alignment of Sb2Se3 absorber with a Zn(O,S) buffer layer is crucial for high efficiency solar cells. The distortions in the current-voltage characteristic in some Sb2Se3 solar cells with Zn(O,S) buffer layer are influenced by the junction barrier at Sb2Se3/Zn(O,S) interface. The presence of a large junction barrier at Sb2Se3/Zn(O,S) interface leads to distortions in J-V curves, which can be eliminated by adjusting carrier density, operating temperature, and sulfur content in Zn(O,S).

Simulation analysis of Cd1-xZnxS/Sb2(Se1-xSx)3 solar cells with n-i-p structure

Summary: The use of Cd1-xZnxS as an alternative ETL layer in solar cells can enhance efficiency from 10.0% to 13.3%, with defects at the Cd1-xZnxS/Sb2(Se1-xSx)3 interface identified as the main limiting factor. Efficiencies of up to 14.8% can be achieved by reducing interface defects, with further improvements to 17.4% possible by addressing series and shunt resistances.
