Transmission Line Circuit and Equation for an Electrolyte-Filled Pore of Finite Length

Mathijs Janssen

Summary: This study discusses the strong connection between the transmission line equation and the transmission line circuit model in the charging process of an electrolyte-filled pore. It shows how boundary conditions such as Robin and Neumann emerge in the TL circuit, and explains the relaxation time τ consistently across the TL circuit, TL equation, and known impedance of the pore. An approximation of τ clarifies the relaxation time determined numerically in the stack-electrode model by Lian et al.

A thin double layer analysis of asymmetric rectified electric fields (AREFs)

Bhavya Balu et al.

Summary: The study employs perturbation methods to analyze an asymmetric rectified electric field (AREF) generated by an oscillating voltage in a model electrochemical cell. By adopting the Poisson-Nernst-Planck framework and considering unequal ionic diffusivities, the dynamics of electric potential and ionic strength in the electrolyte are investigated. The existence of an AREF affects the electrophoretic and diffusiophoretic velocities for colloidal particles, which can significantly impact particle motion.
