Ferric heme as a CO/NO sensor in the nuclear receptor Rev-Erbss by coupling gas binding to electron transfere

Summary: Rev-Erb beta is a nuclear receptor that plays a key role in regulating circadian rhythm, metabolism, and inflammation. Heme binding to the protein affects its function as a repressor and its ability to bind other proteins. Interestingly, Rev-Erb beta exists in the Fe3+ form within the cell, contradicting its role as a gas sensor. This study demonstrates how the Fe3+ state is congruent with heme binding and cellular gas sensing, suggesting a potential mechanism for CO/NO-mediated regulation of circadian rhythm through redox changes in Rev-Erb beta.

The superior gas-sensing performance of 2D metal-oxide ultrathin nanosheets is attributed to their high surface area and abundant pores.

Low-Concentration NOx Gas Analysis Using Single Bimodular ZnO Nanorod Sensor

Summary: This study successfully demonstrated the differential measurement of nitrogen oxide mixture with errors smaller than 8.3% using a bimodular sensing strategy. The direct and portable analysis of NOx at low concentrations was achieved, providing a promising solution for accurate detection in the 1-10 ppm range for NO and 100 ppb-1 ppm for NO2.
