Rational Design of High-Concentration Ti3+ in Porous Carbon-Doped TiO2 Nanosheets for Efficient Photocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis

Qing Han et al.

Summary: The study presents porous carbon-doped anatase TiOx (C-TiOx) nanosheets with high-concentration active sites of Ti3+ obtained through a reproducible bottom-up approach. It demonstrates that the high-concentration Ti3+ sites play a vital role in enhancing N-2 photoreduction activity. Combined with the morphology of porous nanosheets and the loading of a Ru/RuO2 cocatalyst, the optimized C-TiOx shows a high NH3 production rate and remarkable quantum efficiency under visible-light irradiation, outperforming current TiO2-based photocatalysts.

Altering Hydrogenation Pathways in Photocatalytic Nitrogen Fixation by Tuning Local Electronic Structure of Oxygen Vacancy with Dopant

Yanan Bo et al.

Summary: This study introduces Fe dopants into TiO2 nanofibers to stabilize oxygen vacancies and tune their local electronic structure, shifting the hydrogenation of N-2 from an associative alternating pathway to an associative distal pathway. This approach provides new insights for efficiently controlling reaction pathways towards photocatalytic nitrogen fixation.

In-situ growth of few-layer graphene on ZnO with intimate interfacial contact for enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity

Libo Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a composite material was developed by in-situ deposition of few-layer graphene on the surface of ZnO, leading to enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance. The improvement was attributed to the intimate interfacial contact and Schottky junction between ZnO and graphene, as well as the photothermal effect of graphene and pi-pi conjugation interaction with CO2 molecules. This work not only provides a feasible method for the in-situ growth of graphene, but also presents an efficient photocatalyst for CO2 reduction.

DFT Study on Regulating the Electronic Structure and CO2 Reduction Reaction in BiOBr/Sulphur-Doped G-C3N4 S-Scheme Heterojunctions

Xingang Fei et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of S doping on S-scheme heterojunctions composed of BiOBr and g-C3N4 for CO2 reduction was thoroughly investigated using DFT calculations. The results showed that S doping can improve photocatalytic activity and enhance visible light absorption, leading to the preferential production of CH3OH over CH4. The study suggests that S doping is predicted to be an efficient photocatalyst for reducing CO2 into CH3OH.

Site-exposed Ti3C2 MXene anchored in N-defect g-C3N4 heterostructure nanosheets for efficient photocatalytic N2 fixation

Cong Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel 2D/2D Ti3C2/N-defect g-C3N4 heterostructure photocatalyst has been developed, showing significantly enhanced photocatalytic nitrogen fixation activity with an NH3 yield of 5.792 mg h(-1) g(-1). The construction of the heterostructure through filling the oxygen-terminals of Ti3C2 in the N-defects of g-C3N4, along with the introduction of N-defects, contributes to rapid interfacial charge transfer to the active sites. Additionally, the exposed edge Ti of Ti3C2 serves as the active site for N-2 adsorption and activation, exhibiting desirable NRR selectivity by suppressing HER.
